  • Chemistry of the Antarctic Boundary Layer and the Interface with Snow (CHABLIS) is a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Antarctic Funding Initiative (AFI) funded project, aimed at studying the chemistry of the Antarctic Boundary Layer in greater detail, and for a longer duration, than has previously been attempted. Field measurements were carried out at the British Antarctic Survey station, Halley, at the Clean Air Sector Laboratory (CASLab). Year-round measurements began in February 2004, and a summer campaign focussing on oxidants ran during January/February 2005, after which CHABLIS fieldwork ended. The dataset contains ionic concentrations of major ions measured by ion chromatography from daily surface snow sampling at Halley. Access to this dataset is now public.

  • This dataset contains both the concentration of PM2.5 in ambient air sampled at a height of 8 metres and the concentration of specific ions found in the PM2.5 samples resulting from the analysis by Ion Chromatography. The PM2.5 samples were collected in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China in August 2018 and January 2019. The data was collected to support the study of atmospheric chemistry and processes involving Silicon (Si) containing fine particles, which potentially contribute to atmospheric pollution. These data were collected as part of the Silicon-containing secondary organic aerosols in ambient air (Si-SOA) Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded project.

  • This dataset collection contains the results of the analysis conducted on PM2.5 (particulate matter) samples by the Si-SOA project. The PM2.5 samples were collected in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, China during August 2018 and January 2019 by the Silicon-containing secondary organic aerosols in ambient air (Si-SOA) project. The PM2.5 samples were taken from ambient air at the height of 8m and subjected to a series of analytical techniques, and the data collection is comprised of the following results. - The concentration of water-soluble Silicon/water-soluble organic Silicon/water-soluble inorganic Silicon in PM2.5 samples from Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometry - The concentration of specific ions in PM2.5 samples from Ion Chromatography - The concentration of water-soluble Silicon in PM2.5 samples from Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) - The concentration of water-soluble elements in PM2.5 samples from Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) - The concentration of elements in PM2.5 samples from X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry These data support the study of atmospheric processes in relation to fine Silicon-containing particles, which may contribute to the formation of haze and atmospheric pollution.
